A siren has just bcon installed at the foot of the flashlight tower oil tho Bailway Wharf by the Auckland Harbour Board, ?avs our special correspondent. Tho siren w of English make, and is similar to many in uss i'n most party of the world, the signal h supposed, to bo heard at a distanco of live railed aero? 3 water, giving out ono blast of four seconds' duration every two minutes*. It will be worked by electricity, and can bo instantly connected up during foggy ycather. The installation of the siren will be a great help to all harbour traffic, especially tho ferry and coastal steamers. Several satisfactory trials have already been made, and tho apparatus will be ready for use after Monday next. ULIMAROA DUE WEDNESDAY. A wireless met-sage received last evening states that the Ulimaroa expects to reach Wellington from Sydney at 6 a.m. cm Wednesday.ROTORUA DUE WEDNESDAY. Tho New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Rotorua arrived at Hobart, from London, on Friday morning last, but did not berth till the afternoon. It is expected that the liner will arrive at Wellington o.n Wednesday. COMING BY THE TYRONE. The V. and S. So as to have & steamer leaving Melbourne for New Zealand on- September 10, the Maunganui, which i'a duo >at Sydney on September 2, from Wellington, will proceed to Newcastle to coal. She will proceed theneo to Melbourne, and leave there in place of llio Moeralu on Wednesday, September 10. An arrangement hag been come to by wliich the Willochra, which is to replace the Aorangi in the Sydney-Wellington-Saai Francisco service, will leave Sydney for Wellington on .September 6. This steamer will take Wellington passengers and cargo which would otherwise have come across by the Maunganui. At present no arrangements hswo been announced as to what the oompany intend doing regarding the usual steamer connection between Wellington, southern ports. Hoba.rt, and Melbourne, on September 11.
