TWO TOUGH CUSTOMERS
RESIST AND THREATEN THE POLICE. (By Tcletranh—Press Afiooclatlon.) Duncdin, August Id. At tlio Police Court tliis morning, bo* foro Mr. Widtlowson, S.M., Ivan Herlitz was charged .'that on August 15 ho was guilty of disorderly behaviour'-, wliilo drunk 011 tho 'railway elation, and' was further charged'with using obscene language, and with assaulting Constablo Maiden by threatening to stab him with a knife while in tlio execution of his duty. John. Eardly Nelson was charged with being guilty of disorderly behaviour, and with resisting Constable Vaugliaii. 1 - The evidence showed that Constablo Maiden found the accused making a great deal of noiso, and told them t'-o go home. Nelson challenged the constable, wlto again advised tho men to go homo. Herlitz was arrested for using bad language, and ..Nelson obstructed tho constable. Herlitz then drew a knife, aud threatened to use it, on tho constablo. Assistance was procured,- and tho mc-a wero arrested.
His Worship said that for the disorderly conduct acouscd would cach be fined 10s., in default-forty-eight hours' imprisonment; on the charge of obscene languago, Herlity. would be fined £2 (or four-teen.-days' imprisonment), and on tho charge of resisting the constable, Nelson would bo fined 205., or seven days' imprisonment. Herlitz was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment with hard labour on tilts charge o£ assaulting tho constable.
