HORSE & MASTER. T.AAIT! ANIMAL AND ITS LOAD. In the Magistrate's Court yesterday, /Hush Dolierty wis charged, witli liavinj; cruelly ill-treated a horse. The allegation was that tlio'horso had been made to pull a load of metal "P Bowen Street while lame and- unfit for work. Mr. P. W. Jackson appeared for Doherly, wlio pleaded not guilty. Doherty stated that he •was away lat tlio time, ai\d, also, that ho did not consider the horse unfit. He was'fined .£3, with costs .£2 lis., in default Id days', imprisonment. SPEED LIMITS .& BY-LAWS. For having exceeded the speed limit of safety when motorins in AVillis Street, Charles Elliott Wyett was fined 10s., with costs 19s. _ . l*'or having failed to light vehicles at night, Joseph Hargreaves was fined 55., with costs 75.; Fedor K. Rolling was ordered to pay costs 75.; A. C. O'Connor was fined 10s., with costs 7a.; Ffaser M'Donald, ss. and 75.; and Robert Jones, ss. and 7s. Herbert Wild was fined 10=>., with l costs 75., for having motor-cycled on the wrong side of the road, and was ordered to pay 7s. costs for having ridden round a corner foster than six miles per hour. Dunbar Sloane was fined 10s., with costs 75., a 9 tllve person responsible for the painting of an advertisement on City Corporation property. MILITARY TRAINING. Tlio following were fined for their failure to attend military parade Walter Norman Connolly, Donald Tasman Stewart, William Stewart, and Herbert Smith. Respecting the first three tho penalty was 55., with costs 75., in default twenty-four hours' military detention. Smith was ordered to pay costs 75., in default twelve hours' military detention. MISSED SCHOOLING. The Truant Inspector proceeded against various parents for their having failed to send children to sdhool the required percentage of days. John Callanan and •\rtliur Whittington were each fined 25., with costs 75.; and Robert Hare was fined 55., with costs 7s. ' . OTHER CASES. For failure to renew its annual license, as required by tlie Stamp Duties Act, the AVellington Cordago Co., Ltd., was fined 10s., with costs .£1 Bs. For < insobriety, Joseph Barrett was fined £2, and prohibited. MT. COOK COURT. Mr. John Smith, J.P., presided at yesterday's sitting of the Mt. Cook Police Court Foi' insobriety, Amne Smith was fined 10s., and Alexander James Smith was 1 fined ss.
