MILKING MACHINES.
STRICTER INSPECTION PROMISED. Arrangements have Tjpoii made for a closer supervision of all milking' machines, and printed instructions for the proper cleaning of these appliances are about to bo issued by the Department of Agriculture. This was stated in the House of Representatives yesterday by the .Prime Minister when he was asked by Mr. Scott whether his attention had been directed to the alleged abuse of milking machines and consequent deterioration in New Zealand butter, also the serious menace to health that may be involved .through, pollution of milk. 'J'he Prime Minister also stated that those dairies whoso milk is used for town supply are regularly and systematically inspected, and the cows and their milk are frequently examined under veterinary supervision to prevent any avoidable risic to tho consumers of milk in the towns throughout the Dominion. In the case of factory dairies, • tho inspection already as frequent as is consistent with reasonable expenditure.
