AND HOW THE C'OXTItOL MET IT, As the outcome of the recent unpleasantness raised in an Association match by members of the Corinthian Club and a subsequent appeal, what is said to bo the first sentence of its kind l in the Dominion, was given last evening. The' whole club (including oflice-bearers) havo been disqualified for life by the Management Committee of tho Wellington Football Association.

Briefly, the -story of the trouble is as' follows;—In a recent match the behaviour of tho Corinthian team waii such that (he referee reported the team to the As sociation. An inquiry, was hold and sentences varying from "censures" to live years' disqualification were passed 011 certain members of the club. Corinthians appealed and the Appeal Board practically upheld the Management Committee's decision. Subsequently the following letter was received front Mr. If. Simpson, secretary of tho Corinthian Club:—

"t am instructed to inform you that it has now been definitely decided to draw the season of tho above club to an end. We offer the memlxrs of your committee our heartiest congratulations upon smashing our club, it . being the desiTO of your members for sonio time past, and wo sincerely trust the same kindness and consideration will bo extended to other clubs in the near future. While wishing Association football every success for tho future, I trust that they (the players) will have tho necessary good sense to remove those from ..your committee who are more capable of managing a circus than clean sport." Aftsr tho reading of tilie letter members of th'a committee eharaolerisnd it as insulting. Eventually tho following motion was moved by Mr. T. Thompson: "That, the officials of tho club bo debarred from taking any part in Association fur three years." This was seconded by Mir. B. L. Salmon, pro forma.. Mr. R. Y. Walls moved tho following amendment: —"That the officials and Management Committee of tho Coriiithian Football Oliub lx> suspended, and that they be not allowed to take any further part in Association football."

Tho amendment was seconded by Mr. Reynolds, and carried by. five votes to three.

Mr. A. Wells moved a further amendment, -which was seconded by Mr. Walls, to have the original amendment (which now becamo the motion) to read "Management Committeo and secretary of tilio club," instead of the words "officials and Management. Committee." This was lost by four votes to three. 'After further discussion, Mr. R. Y. Walls moved: "That, in view of tho withdrawal of thy Corinthian Football. Club, and the fact that certain moneys are owing by tlint olub to tJhis Association, no transfer of players bo granted from that olub to any otihor club until this committee is satisfied that all means have been exhausted to obtain payment." ■ This was sscondcd by Mir. A. E. Wells and carried. Other Matters. A request that the match commencn at 2.30 p.m., so as to enable a few members of the Manawatu team to return to Polmerston by the 4.15/ p.m. train, was refused.
