SUSPECTED CASE OF PELLAGRA IN SYDNEY. By Telegraph—Press ■ Association—Copyright Sydney, August 12., According to the Board -of Health records, a case suspiciously like pellagra was discovered some time ago in the Ken-more Lunatic Asylum, near Goulburn. 'l'ho sufferer died; hence the disease was never diagnosed. [The disease, pellagra, was described by Dr. Beale, of Texas, U.S.A., at the International Medical Congress in London recently. The victims are mostly women tied to housework. Tho disease, paid tho doctor, was purely of academic interest until' six years ago, though before that it was well known in Italy. Investigations showed 'that it was fairly widespread in Scotland, and that there had been isolated cases in the South of England. It first produces an itching in the hands, usually, in the spring time, later, the digestive organs are attacked, and finally there are melancholia and insanity. Tho disease is generally attributed to funai in corn maize.]
