Strong north-westerly winds, changing ■ to southerly northword of Kayvhai a,nd East Cane, and east to increasing south-easterly winds elsewhere. The baromoter is unsteady, but due to rise everywhere soon. A further intensification of the low pressure syster; which haa overspread the country since Sunday has taken Dlace today. Northcri.d winds, strong to sale, have ruled in the north,- but moderate cast to south-easterlies in tho Eouth. Heavy rain has fallen, and much, drizzlo and foe a.re also reported. > D. C. Hastings, August 12.—'Welcome rain set ill-this morning, >and fell in heavy showers throughout tlic day; will do much good. Wanganui, August 12—Dull, with occasional sunshine.
