A meeting of the master printers of tho Wairarapa and Bush districts was held at Masterton 011 Friday afternoon, when it was dccided to form a branch of tlio New Zealand Federated Printers' Association of New Zealand. A committee was set up to proparo a tariff, which will be submitted to tho members for consideration, and any recommendations they desire to make. A meeting will then bo held to adopt rules and clect officers. Mf.'.:'Eeid, of Dunodin, secretary to the Federated Printers' Association, was present and addressed tlio meeting. Mr. R. Franks, of Carterton, who had tho misfortune to fracture his collarbone on Sunday week through being thrown out of a gig, tile result of tile horse slipping on a bridge, is making satisfactory progress towards recovery. A miniature rille club is being formed in Carterton under tlio auspices of tho local Oddfellows' Lodge. FEATHERSTON. At tho last meeting of tho local Delating Society, All - . William Barton gave an interesting lecturo on Western Canada and tho central portion of tho UnitedStates. Mr. Barton recently visited tho localities mentioned. Tlio annual "social" of Loyal Unity Lodge (Oddfellows) was held in the Town Ha.lL 011 Thursday night, and, as usual, was largely attended. Amongst tho visitors wore: Bro. .1. A. Boake, Provincial G.M., and Bro. G. E. G.odber, Provincial C.S. (Wellington). The M.C.'s were: Bros. M. B. Tait, P.G., S. Murphy, P.G., and W. Tinney. Mr. A. C. Holms carried out the secretarial duties. Mr.. Alex, llannay has resigned from tho Feathcrston County Council on account of removal from this district to Palmerston North. At tlio last meeting of tho Feathcrston County Council, it was mentioned by the chairman (Mr. A. D. M'Leod) that the Minister for Public Works intended to inspect tho Rimutaka Bead at an early date, in order to decido if the inainteii* ance of tho road should be a national concern. Tho question of tho upkeep of tho road is being kept prominently before the Feathcrston Comity Council by the activities of tlio Wairarapa Automobilo Association. OTAKI. Tho Rev. G. F. Petrie, the new vicar here, occupied tho local pulpit for tho first time yesterday. Ho gave an eloquent address, which was fully appreciated. It is understood that no induction ceremony will take place. Tho best football match l of the season took place on Saturday, when the local team defeated Levin by a penalty goal to nil. Mr. Selman, who has secured a lease of the Manakau Hotel, expects to take possession almost immediately. Mr. Pearson, manager of the local branch of tho U.S.S. Co., left on Saturday for a month's holiday. Mr. A. K. Douglas, of tho Wellington office, is relieving here. Mr. Antrobus, for 27 years in the employment of tho Kaupokomii Dairy Factory Company, was presented last week with a substantial cheque by the directors, who paid a high tribute to tho efficient and continuous service of their retiring servant
