Joseph Brown, employed by the Hawke's Bay Motor Company, was lcil 1.ed ill' the nnakituri Valley by falling over a precipice into tho river, a drop of thirty l'eet. Brown was conveying passengers to'a station in the valley., Tho road was found to bo impassable, and ho took tlie horses out of tho buggy and drove them over a bad portion of tho road. In running at the head of tho horses ho was bumped over the cliff.

UNKNOWN MAN BADLY HURT. Dunedin, August. 11. This evening, while driving a motorcar into Outram, Dr. Mcody found a man lying unconscious on the road, half a. inilo from the township. He found that tho man was suffering from a fractured skull, having to all appearances been thrown from a horse. Dr. Moody conveyed him to Dunedin Hospital, where an operation was performed. The man is badlv hurt, but there is no evidence to identify him, except an account bearing the namo Cook.
