. ' $ Mendelssohn's popular and highly-drA-niatic oratorio "Elijah" will bo performed in the Town Hall this evening by tho Royal Wellington Choral Society, under the baton of Mr. Christian Hellemann. The principal' soloists aro Madame Mary. Conly, the English oratorio singer (soprano), Madanio Brainsby (contralto), Mr. Harry .Phipps (tenor), and Mr. John l'rouso (baritone). Tho beautiful unaccompanies! quartet, "Oast 'lliy Burden, is usually taken l>y tlio four principals, but on this occasion it is to ho sung by the chorus. The final rehearsal was held'in tho Town Hall last evening, and was very successful, everything pointing to an excellent performance this cvcninc. Hutt and Johnsouville trains will bo delaved after the performance till 10.50 n.<m. The doors will open at 7.15 p.m. The nlan is still onen, and some Is. and 2s. tickets may still bo had at tho Dresden.
