NAPIER NOTES.
: After the 25tli 'annual meeting of tho Napier Building Society, held on Saturday evening, the directors entertained those present at supper at tho Masonic Hotel. Congratulatory speeches were made, in which reference wns made by llr. Vigor Brown, M.P., and others to the very satisfactory position of' tho society. The society sinco its inception has lent some ,£200,000, and tho issue just matured showed 1W- per cent. The directors wero each granted a bonus of ten guineas,, and the chairman and secretory each 55 guineas. Tho heavy, sea on Saturday moraiDß caused tho steamer African Monarch which was berthed at the breakwater to break away from her moorings.. She wept out into the-roadstead, and is now safely anchored there.
