THE EMPRESS' THEATRE. • To-dav and to-night a feature drama, ; "Tho Heart of Marble," will appear on the now programme of the Empress The- > atre continuous pictures. The story con- I cerns a sculptor, an orphan girl, and a famous, though hard-hearted, beautiful woman. The sculptor pavs niucli attention to the beauty until ho is gradually drawn away by t]ie orphan girl. The beauty is twitted at tho sculptor's waning alfection, and sho determines to bring him back to Iter feet. With arts and wiles die succeeds, but the sculptor is warned of the woman's true worth. Tho sculptor, in a dream, is shown the value of tho beauty's love. Tho climax is sudden and tragic. Tho supporting bill includes "The Sorrowful Shore" (A.B. drama), "Springtime in Monto Carlo" (scenic), "The* Noisy Suitors" (A.B. comedy), and others. SHORTTS' PICTURES. Tho change of programme which is to bo presented at Short ts' Continuous Picture Theatre to-day will include the following victures:—"Temptation of Drink" (Asta Incilsen feature), "A Soldier's Lover" (drama), "Beau Brummel and his Bride'' (comedy), "Snow-clad Mountains" (scenic), and the "Warwick Chronicle." "THE GREAT M'EWEN." "The Great M'Kwen," Scottish entertainer, «ill open 'his Wellington season at the Opera House to-night. He will be assisted by Miss- Florence Hartley, who is described as a charming vocalist, and Mr. Will llollon, specialty dancer, who will give exhibitions of Scotch dancing. Mr. XI Ewen's ontm'tainment is billed as ".Mirth and Mysticism." He is a nephew of Professor Anderson, the "Wizard of the North," and 'has spent, tho whole of his life in continuing and improving upon the extraordinary class of entertainment practised by tho "Wizard," with whom he was for many years associated. His speciality is hypnotism and telepathic ■suggestion, and Australian press reports of his recent tour of Australia slate that ho is- a- master of his art. Miss Hartley is a soprano songstress of note. Sire was some time prima donna in tho Boston Lyric Opera Company, and was also in tTTe Savage Grand Opera Company.
