THE BROTHERHOOD.
• ADDRESS BY ME. J. KERSHAW, At the meeting of the Wellington Central Mission Men's Brotherhood, in-the New Theatre, yesterday afternoon, an address was delivered by Mr. J. Kershaw. The Rev. G. Knowles Smith presided over a good attendance. Mention was made by Mr. E. Arnold, J.P., of' the difficulty experienced in getting public men to take the platform on Sunday afternoon. ■ Mr. Kershaw's address was based upon his observations during a recent visit to England. He compared life in London and in Lancashire with life in New Zealand, very much to tho advantage of the latter. The Brothorhood in England, he stated, was doing a far greater work than, in New Zealand. In tlra Old Country thero was much greater scope for the zeal of social workers. In the cotton mills of Lancashire, women worked lons hours, and earned good wages, but this did not make for happiness and comfort in the home. When tho authorities 60ught to introduce reforms in regard to working conditions, 'however, strenuous opposition was offered by these operatives themselves. It was tho samo with women who laboured at tho pifs broTT in colleries. Mr. Dempster contributed a recitation and was encored, and Miss D. Jones, sang, "He Shall Feed His Flock." The old-fashiofied ways of treating coughs and colds are circuitous and stupid. The inhalation of "NAZOL" gives immediats and remarkable relief. "NAZOL" cures quickly. Is. o(l.—Advt. At Hertford a man died from injuries inflicted by an infuriated bear which was being tak«n to the Toilway station. Another man was knocked dwn and severely bitten.
