POSTER COMPETITION.
In connection with the Wellington historical pagjant, to be held on Newtown Park 011 Saturday, October 25, and Moilday, October 7 (Labour Day) ,an interesting poster competition is announced. The competition is open to all artists, both amateur and professional, and tho commutes announoo that they will b« plnd to also receive posters from artists, who, although not wishing to enter, would still like to. exhibit. Tho prizes ore two in number, five guineas, lor first, and two guineas for second. In awarding the prizes, the advertising value of the posters and tho display of the wording will be considered as'of equal importance to drawing ani design, and it is quite possible, therefore, that a competitor, though somewhat lacking in draughtsmanship and finished work, artistically, mav, by happening to strike on a particularly happy idea or pithy phrase, cany off the award. Detailed conditions may be had on application at tha principal fine art depots, at Messrs. J. H. Bethume and Co.'s office ( oi' from Mr. Ci. M, Silver, the organising secretary for the pageant.
Mr. S. George Nathan advertises that he has bee.i instructed by tho Tawa Laud Company, Ltd., to sell, at the Chamber of Commerce, 102 Customhouse Quay, Thursday, August 14, two farms, particulars of which as to area, ctc., may be gleaned from tho advertisement.
