THE BULLETIN. Tho official bulletin issued last evening by Dr. Fi-engley, tho Deputy Chief Health Officer, was brief. It road as' follows:—"Tho District Health Offioer, Auckland (Dr. Monk), reports a suspicious caso in Auckland. Cases aro reported at Glen Murray, Raglan County, and two fresh cases at ICaikohe. Information Sought. Mr. Atmaro gavo notico in tho House of Representatives to move for a return sho\viing:—(l) Tho nunibor and ages of Maoris :afFlicted by tho alleged smallpox; (2) tho number of casos terminating fatally,, ago to be given in cacli oaso; (3) tho number of Europeans afflicted and tho numbc-r of oases terminating fatally, ago to bo given in cach caso; (4) tho number afflicted wlio hud been vacoinated, and tho number of deaths amongst vaccinated cases, to bo shown separately; and (5) tho state of surroundings—hygiendio or otherwise—whero oasos occurred, To Stop Rumour-mongerlng. Mr. V. H. Rood (Bay of Islands) gave notioe in tlio House of Representatives yesterday to ask tho Minister for Public Hoaltli whether ho will institute immediate inquiries, either by Parliamentary Committeo or otherwise, into tlio statements mado by tho nreimber for Grey Lynn to the effect that two persons in Auckland had lost arms and one in Wol--1 lington was about to lose an aTm through raccination, so that such inaccurate statements might bo'publicly denned. Mr. Reed remarked that smallpox, is now too firmly established in somo districts to bo trifled with, and as vaccination and sanitation arc the only means of successfully combating tlio diisoaso, no falso ideas likely to influence tho publio should bo allowed to go unchallenged^ SYDNEY'S EPIDEMIC. SUSPECT ON P. AND 0. LINER.' By Tcleeraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydnoy, August 8. Tho steamer Canberra, which wias laid up during the smallipox epidemic, is resuming her running. (Roo. August 8, 0.30 a.m.) Sydney, August 8. Six oases of smallpox have been reported in tho metropolitan area to-day. A steward on board the P. and 0. liner Mongolia (which arrived fifteen days ago), whp was vaccinated on July 17 last, when tho vessel was between lYemantle and Axlelaido, has been quarantined as a suspect. The doctors, however, aro not unanimous as to whether it is actually a oaso of smallpox or whether tho vaccination has been successful. Precautions arc boing taken to fumigate the vessel and trace tho contaots. Tho Mongolia is due to sail to-morrow.
