RACING DAYS.

PROTEST AGAINST ANT INCREASE. Mr. Geo. Laurenson yesterday presented a petition to the House of Representatives from 627 people protesting against any increase in- the number of racing days within the Dominion. To alter the regulations before they had had sufficient trial, petitioners represent, would lessen the prestige of Parliament in the eyes of the peopile; and, further, any extension of the number of racing days "must mean an extension of tho opportunities to foster tho gambling spirit which is all too prevalent, and which needs repression rather than encouragement."
