LACROSSE.

[Br Goal Umpire.] THE REPRESENTATIVE TEAM, Another of the representative trial games was played, on Saturday last at Wakefield Park, those provisionally selected being matched against the next best. Tho game itself was no exhibition of lacrosse, both teams being lacking in organisation and method in attacking rushes. The selectors met again during the week to make their final selection, and I am pleased to note that one or two alterations hqve been made. The team has already been published. On paper it is the strongest that could have, been selected, and we can-only, hopo that when they meet Auckland they will prove tho strongest on tho field.

Ono notices that Casey has been, left 1 out. For one reason this- seems a pity. I think that he understands the theory, of the.gamo as well as any other pluyer in Wellington. But the selectors, who, I feel sure, know what they are doing, have decided otherwise, and "Bert" remains on the'bank—an enthusiastic barracker for Wellington. Hutton is another man who has been left out. He is a very flashy player, but hi 9 stick work is only second-rate. He makes the great mistake of encfeavouring to use his crosse with one' hand only. This is not only detrimental to himself, but is dangerous to other players. Of course, tho writer does not wish to indicate that those are perfect. They are not. Everyone has faults which could be,set down at great length, but taking into consideration "ono thing with another," a 9 the immortal sergeant says in the "Pirates of Perfzaiice," I think that the team selected will take a lot of beating.

It would be advisable if'the wholo of the representative team> could get together in the early merning, and work out their plans of attack and mode of combination, so that, when they go on tho field, tliev will know exactly hoir to co-oponte with "tho nert man',"
