VALUABLE SHIPMENT OF JERSEYS. Bv tho Waimana, . which arrived in Wellington yesterday, Mr. E. Harkness, ono of tho woll-known Taranaki Jersey breeders, brought with him a very liighclasa consignment.of Jersey cattle, direct from the island of Jersey. Tho shipment consists, of two cows, e«?ht heifers, and a 'ten. weeks old heifer calf. A bull calf was included in tlie shipment, but unfortunately he died on the voyage out. However; one of the; heifers made good tho deficiency in numbers by giving birth-to a. promising bull calf whilo at sea. All the cattle wea'o personally selected -.by, Mr. HaTkness from the best Jersey studs. A . glance at their extended pedigrees shows that they aro an Aristocratic collection, many of them showing a closo relationship to some of the most famous parent stock that has been produced, both ns utility and show-Ting performers. With the exception of two cows, which were'in full milk during the wholo passage, all the heifers are in ■ calf ■ .to proved sires.
