Mr. Richards, of the Collins Street Congregational Church in Melbourne, in a letter to the "Daily News," states that a sinister featuro of the Australian militarism is the association of the Press with the. military authorities, tinder which tho majority of the newspapers have engaged in a conspiracy of silence regarding the growing opposition to the Defence Act. Mr. Richards censures the "baleful influence of ecclesias. tiool, jingoes."
