CRY OF SACRILEGE RAISED

Reuter's correspondent states that tlio riot was the result of the machinations of outsddo Moslem agitators, who carefully engineered a plan for ploying on the fanaticism and ignorance of the mob. The. original schemo of the authorities involved the demolition of tho templo, but in .response to the citizens' urgent prayer, only a small projection of a wall was destroyed.: There was no excitement in Cawnporo until the agitators started the cry of sacrilege. (Kec. August 5, 11.10 p.m.) Delhi, August 5. There have been a hundred arrests at Cawnpore, many of tliem being boys. Homer of the trustees of the JLosque who convened the mass meeting of indignation and addressed the' mob have been arrested. • Tho incident has been viewed with much concern, as tho Mohammedans have already been unduly excited over tho Balkan War. The police had much difficulty in controlling a meeting held at Lucknow to protest against the action of tho Cawnpore authorities.
