A meeting of tho Hutt Park Committee, was held last evening, tliero ; Ijeing present H. Baldwin . (chairman), M'Ewan, Townsend, Brocklebank, Hcdgins. The Petono Borough Councii wrote intimating that tlie committee's request for a further sum of .£2O on account of this year's subsidy had been acceded to. The Petone Technical School Committee wrote asking for a room in tho Hutt Park Buildings, in which to hold classes: for instruction in machine sheep-shearing. It was deaided to appoint a sub-com-mittee, consisting of Messrs. Baldwin, Townsend, and Brocklebank, to -go into the matter. Messrs. Nyhano and Sharp applied for sufficient ground on the north side; of tho Park for training purnoses. They offered .£lO per year rental. It ivas agreed to ask the applicants to forward a rough plan of the proposed training track. Messrs. Gold and Arcus (representing New Gracefield, -Ltd.) forwarding a plan of a proposod road from liandwick Road to Waiwetu Bridge. They pointed out that, by adopting tho plan, certain awkward pieces at each end would be done away with. It was resolved to leave tho matter in tho hands of tho chairman. There was a large attendance of members nt the monthly masting of the W.C.T.U. in tho Church of Christ yesterday. Mrs. Rowse was in the chair. Mrs. Holder, from Wellington, was present, nnd spoko on the evils of gambling. At the close of the meeting tho secretary, on behalf of the, union, presented Mrs. Rowse (president) with a handbag, the occasion being her eightieth birthday. Several . members also spoke, making w'arm referenco to Mrs. Rowso s character and work.
