DEATH OF A GIRL.
THE CORONER'S INQUIRY,

At an inquest at Stroud on a girl aged seven years, who died from tho result of Christian Science treatment, a doctor gavo evidenco that tho case was one of diphtheria, and that if it had been treated by modern methods it would probably have recovered. The. father of tho child' gavo ovidence that illness was a falso belief. The child had appeared to bo suffering from mumps, and ho had telephoned to a Christian Scientist, who bestowed distant treatment, and. there wtts immediate improvement. The Scientist thereupon telephoned to cease tlie treatment,, The child became worse, and diod. Tho mother, in her evidence, said that if tho child had becomo worse after Hie treatment she would have called in a doctor to diagnose tho disease.
Tho Coroner asked if a doctor would have been allowed to treat the child, but witness answered that she was unable to say. The inquest was adjourned.
