THE CITY MARKETS.
AN EARLY SEASON, The most arresting - feature in this week's market report is tho plentiful supply of locally-produced fruit and vegetables- plentiful for this time of the year—which indicates at once a successful winter and an early season. Supplies o* cool-stored locally-grown pears have realised prices in the producers' favour, and Poison and Motueka-grown apples have mot with a good demand. Owing to thero having been no direct boat from Sydney this week, tho only supplies from Australia camo via Auckland, and arrived in good order, considering the time tho produce was travelling. Mandarins and lemons from Melbourne camo to hand yesterday via tho south, in company with a consignment of Tasmanian pears and apples.
