A full meeting of the provincial executive of the Farmers' Union, representing all parts of tho agricultural district, discussed tho'replies of branches to the'nucstion of. the best time of the year for •holding Territorial camps. The conclusion unanimously adopted was to request tho defcnco authorities that as there must bo two camps, to hold one at Easter and tho other in October. These dates giving farmers alternative seasons for sparing men. would.lessen the.inconvenience, rind tho larg3 employers could arrango to let half tlio men go to cacli camp. A committee was appointed to confer with tho O.C.D. regarding the substitution of a few wholeday paradesifor the many evening parades. It was remarked that the training System is costing a lot of money, and that tho, best sjiould bo made of it, and this was not possible if drills were put in by men after a day's work. . Tho'Paliiierston branch, of the Farmers' Union i 3 endeavouring to get Government experts to lecture there frequently on various farming topics. Tho first request is for ono ou "Diseases of Cattle."
