MIEAMAR COUNCIL,

At a meeting of tho Miramar Borough Council this week, Mr. N. W. Bell presiding, 'ho Hon. 11. Herrics (Minister for Railways), replying to the council's representations as to fatalities at level railway crossings, wrote that tho various district engineers had been asked to report in the crossings in their district which they considered dangerous, and ho 'hoped that as a result sonio method woiild bo arrived at by which dangerous crossings .would bo made safe for tho public.

.The local police wroto that poopio had taken liquor into Miramar Hall without a declaration from tho Magistrate's Court, and they would bo prosecuted.

It was stated, in answer to a question, that tho Eugby Union was quite within its rights in granting the use of the Seatoun Park to the Union Steam Ship F.C. for a match on August 16, as tho union had boon granted the use of the park for every Saturday throughout tho season.
