Dr. Gibb to-day performed tho interesting ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the new Sunday- school for St. Paul's. A FEAT ON FOOT. Nelson, July 31. Lieutenant D..W,-Brown, of H Battery, has just accomplished a record walk, covering 113 miles in 31J hours. ODDFELLOWS' SPLIT. Auckland, July 31. The Fountain of Friendship Lodge of Oddfellows resolved, by 1G59 votes to 302, to secede from tho New Zealand Manchester Unity. Tho point at issue is a proposal by the Manchester Unity that all Now Zealand lodges' should consolidate their sick and accident funds and that these bo controlled from headquarters at Wellington. The Auckland Lodgo is very wealthy, its assets being valued at .£35,000. The proportion in favour of seceding exceeds that required' by tho rules.
