The Londonderry country-side has been terrorised b.V the protracted failure of tho authorities to capture M'Cnrney, the demented policeman, who, after shooting two constables (ono seriously) at tho polico barracks, tied into iho street, and wounded several civilians, afterwards taking refuge in a brickfield. Tho brickfield is honeycombed by subterranean passages, which mado the man's capture difficult. M'Carney ultimately surrendered.
