-« MANAWATU TRAVELLERS' • GRIEVANCES. The Minister for Railways, tho Hon. W. H. Hcrrics, made another.declaration in the House yesterday as to the impossibility of running Manawatu trains through to Lambton station. Tlio matter was raised by a question from Mr. W. H. D. Bell. \ Mr. Hemcs's Teply was as follows:— "It is only possible to niako an alteration in connection with the main lino and sidings- between the Thermion and Lambton stations at tho expenditure of n largo amount of public money. It is further not practicable to carry out the alterations in such a manner as to enable them to fit in with the scheme that will ultimately bo carried out in connection, with the new central station at Wellington, therefore any expenditure . incurred in making the alterations to the lines as suggested by persons who have interested themselves in the matter would merely result in the alterations being useless when tho central station scheme is carricd out."
