PROHIBITION HOTELS.
Sir,—A 'correspondent named Mr. Fred A. Spence' wrote to your estimable_ journal the other day and directed notice, to' the fact that no-license hotels in towns and country are sorely lacking in comfortable accommodation for travellers. Ha calls upon Prohibitionists to' do something to justify the merits of their cause by spending their nionoy in erectins prohibition hotels "where the advantages of the licensed hotels could be secured." Mr. Spencer is evidently a traveller and knows about what ho talks, and every . other traveller and tourist'who-'has perhaps little experience with licensed houses, knows that if all hotels were reduced to the low level of prohibition hotels there would be fewer travellers and no tourists dt all coming to this country. Mr. Spencer is evidently a Prohibitionist and he deplores the fact that the licensed hotel is "in general get-up and attention decidedly superior" to the prohibition hotel. But the Prohibitionists generally want all licensed hotels to bp degraded to the level of prohibition or no-license hotels, and this is their ideal of reform! Mr. Spencer calls upon wealthy Prohibitionists to erect no-license hotels and maintain them to the standard of licensed hotels to show their sincerity and to justify- their agitation for no-license. I hope they will hear his call—l am etc., SINE CERE.
