wood Oil Boring and Prospecting Co., Ltd. This company has an authorised capital of ,£10,(101). .CU7SO of which has already been called up, and owns boring options over 16,000 acres of likely land situated at Inglewood and Mokau, and a limited area at Moturoa adjoining the refilling works of the Taranaki Oil AVells, Ltd. Tho company imported a good drilling plant from the Oil M'ell Supply Co., of Pittsburg, U.S.A., and has already sunk a boro (o a depth of 2500 feet at
Norfolk Road, about faur miles from Inglewood. During the boring operations there wcro frequent emanations of petroleum gas, indicating the presence of petroleum at no great distance. Though boring _ operations were suspended some little time ago, the well is still "passing." Mr. L. Alexander was tho first chairman of this company, and on his resignation about three years ago Mr. J". Furlong, of New Plymouth, was appointed fo the position—one which he still occupies. Negotiations are being conducted with some English financiers with a view of increasing the capital of tho company, and recommencing drilling operations on 0110 or moro of tho company's properties 011 a larger and belter scale. The company Ims under option a really fine lot of land for prospecting, and stands in well with the rest as to chances of striking a payable petroleum flow.
