[ The second week's representation of tho I wonderful luusterpicce "Quo Vadis?" is , proving even more popular than the first, i and many people who had already seen this phenomenal film are attending His l Majesty's Theatro a second and third time. To thoso blessed with an imagina- ! lion, tho scenes as represented in tho course of this historical pageant are no--1 thing short of bewildering. THEATRE ROYAL. Tho educated pig, produced in full view . of tho audience at the Theatre .Royal from a bowler hat, along with other animate ami inanimate objects, is the chief attraction at this popular house of enter- ■ tainment. and though Pole's career as a mirth-provider may bo brief, it will un- ; doubteilly bo a merry one, judging by the roars of laughter which ho lias occasioned during the last two nights, as well as previously. Tho Eidgway Bros., hand balancers and comedy acrobats; Tho Gazzards, musicians, jugglers, and. heavy-, weight lifters; Jliss Violet Carmen, and Alf. Laurajjce, composer pianist; the Two Franklins, in a clever American sketch; and Essio Jennings, balladist, are amongst tho chief turns which help to provide a most delightful evening. "THE SMART SET." The Concert Chamber of the Town Hall is occupied by tho Smart Set, who pro-, vide exactly what is required by a mirthloving public, tho quality of their performance being only equalled by tho quantity of their patrons. Miss Georgio Martin is as popular as ever, whilst Mr. Walter George and Mr. Maynard Uakin, tho directors of the company, are always in the picture. The concerted items aro admirably rendered, and show painstaking preparation. THE KING'S THEATRE. Tliis-wrek's programmo at tho King's Theatro is l'ar above the average, and although tho list of subjects is a very lengthy ni:o, thero is not a poor picture screened. The principal feature, "Nigger Jim," is a stirring drama, whicli includes a steeplechase raco for a wife. The colouring of this film has been exceptionally well and most artistically done. Tho star comedy, "Harnessing a Horse" is 2030 ft. in length, ar.i its screening causes screams of laughter. The large number of supporting pictures aro all well wortli seeing. THE'BMPEESS THEATRE. A final chanco will ba availablo to-dav and to-night-of seeing the present programmo of the Empress Theatre continuous pictures. Tho A.13. Company's "feature" drama, "The Mothering Heart," is a fins, portrayal from modern life. Th 9 episodes in the story are thoroughly interesting, tho interpretation is realistic, and the staging is on a magnificent scale. In the music-hall cafo scene, two skilled performers appear in an Apache dance. Tho supporting numbc-rs include "Bill's Sweetheart" (Edison Western drams), "The Biio and Fall of M'Doo" (A.B. farce-comedy), and several others. A comploto chango is announced for tomorrow. SHOETTS' PICTURES. "Shylock," a capital film, depicting scenes from Shaliespearo's immortal "Merchant of Venice," is tho chef d'oeuvre at Sliortts' Continuous Theatre, this film being iIKJO feet in. length. The supporting items' includo "The 100 Dollar Elopement," "All Sisters," and other attractive films. ' "THE CREATION." Hayden's "Tho Creation" is to to given at tho Town. Hall on Friday evening next by tho Royal Wellington Choral Society, in the.presence of his Excellency tho Governor and tho Countess of Liverpool. Madame Mary Coney, tho great English singer, is the star artist. Of Madamo Coney s singing with tho Philharmonic Society last month in Haydn's masterpiece, the Sydnoy "Herald" said: "Tho soprano's interpretation of tho beautiful snngs that fall to the part was marked by tho most expressive charm. . . . Last evening will bo remembered for .Mary Coney's easy vocalisation, a simplicit'y nf stylo duo to tho exercise of the high-Cat! art," The booking at tho Dresden is said to be very heavy, and a packed houso is anticipated. Tho final full rehearsal will 1,0 held in the Town Jlall to-morrow night at 7.30. Non-members will not be admitted to the rehearsal. The doors will be open on Friday at 7.15, and tho oratorio will commence punctually at 8, concluding at 10. Patrons who aro,not in their seats at 8 will have to remain outside until S.lO. The box plan is still at tho Dresden. HUTT SKATING RINK. Therp was a largo attendance at the Hutt IJink on Monday evening. Miss Hayward and Miss Johnson organised a skating party, and afterwards tho ladies entertained friends at supper. On Thursday night tho Wellington representatives will, play a hockey . match against the Hutt team, and visitors from the city will be afterwards entertained'at a smoke concert. On Saturday evening tho feature will be a gliding competitioli for couples, for which prizes will bo given. The band will bo at tho Eink on Saturday afternoon.
