WEAK-WILLED VEGETARIANS.
Professor Gautier, of tlio Sorbonne, has attacked vegetarianism with vigour in a lecture on the value of food-stuffs (says the Paris correspondent of tho "Daily Mail"). Vegetarianism in 110 way responds, ho says, to the needs, tho reqniromcats, or the activities of European people. As a rule of life it is anything but desirable. It reduces energy, weakens tho will power, and lessens tho capacity of quick decision. As regards drinking, M. Gautier considers wine a very suitable beverage. In moderation, ho says, it i.« not at .ill dangerous. Tn wine-growing countries alcoholism is almost unknown. Wine which strengthens and cheers replaces the alcoholic drink which stupifies.
