MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
DONE IN ERROR. . UNLICENSED FOSTER J1 OTHER. At the Magistrate's Court yesterday, before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., Frances Evelyn Agnes- Leadbrook was charged with having, without being licensed as a foster parent, retained a certain infant in her care. It was explained that the offence had been committed in ignorance, and that the foster mother had been very fend of the child. The fact that she | was unlicensed had transpired at on inquest concerning the death of the child. The Court held that the law must be mado known, and fined the defendant 10s. UNHEARD CASES. Theft of two rainproof overcoats was alleged against Frederick George Smith, who was, on' the application of the police, remanded till to-morrow. The coats were stated to belong to Charles Houchen, who valued them at .£2 10s. A charge against John M Cann of having gambled in ft railway carriage was adjourned till August 4. COURT ODDS & ENDS. For insobriety, William Fivtli Garson was fined 10s., James Davidson 10s., and Thomas Blue £1. For having broken prohibition orders, Alice Louisa Allbrand was fined .£2, Edward Bloomfield £3, George M Ilroy .£3, and Thomas Rcev-'s £4. , . •\ prohibition order was issued against Cecilia "Parkinson, whose husband appeared in support of the application 'against her. Joseph Flanagan was adjudged the father of a child, towards whose support he was ordered to contribute 7s, Gd,. per w.eek.
Alfred William Frogley was fined .£2 for having assaulted Alfred Hewitt. Phillip George Kesyler was fined i£3 on a charge of having molested his wife, from ivhom he is separated.
