SPREADING DISEASE.

Sir,—Allow mo through the columns of your widely-read paper to make a few remarks. While the people of Wellington have been rushing round with: eyes bulging, and in fear and trembling being inoculated against tho spread of smallpox (?), they have quite overlooked a serious menace in our midst. A teacher in one of our principal city schools contracted measles, and was confined to liis homo for about seven days. As eoon as lie was able to move about ho resumed his engagement "teaching the young," and incidentally w'hile passing his knowledge also passing his disease (as it-is still under three weeks since he contracted it himself). Evidently lie is very conscientious for not considering that the scholars absorbed all his energies; lie travels to town and back eacli day by tlie busiest cars, giving tho passengers a chance to get their share. Where are our health officers, sanitary inspectors, or others of that ilk?—l am, etc., KARORI.
