LYMPH TOO HIGHLY PURIFIED. (Rec. July 25, 9.30 p.m.) Sydno/y, July 25. It is stated officially that one consign, ment of New Zealand lymph had been so purified (hat all the cowpox Imd been purified out of it. In a trial of the lymph in Sydney only one caso "took" out of six. Some of the Board of Health's lymph from Now Zealand had been sent on to Newcastle. (Eec. July 20, 0.23 a.m.) Sydney, July 25. On her arrival from Auckland, tho Vic toi-ia. anchored down the harbour, awaiting medical inspection. Tho passeugera will laud to-morrow morning. Six cases of smallpox in tho metropolitan area aro reported to-dny, ouo from a house which was found to bo in a filthy condition. It has been suggested that tho local authorities should make a house-to-houso visitation. Tho cass at Nyngan has been proved to ba smallpox; that at Careoar is doubtful. Adelaide, July 25. A caso of suspected smallpox—a man named Hoseworthy, a recent visitor to Sydney, where ho was vaccinated—has dovolopsd into n suspicious rash. South Australia has been declared an infected district.
