Owing to the unfavourable weather on Saturday last, lacrosseurs, a3 well as all other sporting bodies, were kept off the city reserves. Auckland iiiu sending down a good team, and Wellington have not only to show their superiority this season, but they have to retrieve last season's defeat. So the team, which will be selected on Saturday next must sparkle up, and show the northern boys that they tako beating. Tho game in Auckland has progressed wonderfully, there being now six teams, and Saturday next Ponsonby and North Shore meet to play the finals. It is interesting to note that the North Shore team is a now team, and it bodes well for them if in their first season they can secure tho championship. ttEPKESENTATIVE TRIAL MATCHES. To facilitate the selection of tho team to represent Wellington against Auckland, on August 16, a representative trial match will bo played at the Basin Ee-BDi-ve this afternoon, commencing at 3 o'clock. Teams havo been selected as follow:— . . "A" Team—Goal, Kershawf point, O'Leary; cover-poiut, Canty; third man, Kyder; defence wings, Jordan and J. lieukin; centre, E. Kenkin; attack wings, Fama and Jones (or Andrews); third home, Leydon; second home, Casey (or Hutton); first home, Estcourt. , "13" Team.—Goal, Thomas; point, Burge; cover-point, IK Lee; third man, Proud; defence wings, Wootton and Comrie; centre, Firth; attack wings, Hubbard and Androws; third home, Huttoiij second home, E. Lee; first home, Grant. Tho attack of tho "A" team with tho "B" defence will oppose the defence of tho "A" team with the "B" attack. The former side will play in blue, and the latter in'black, and players are asked to assemble early to facilitate exchange of jersevs. Mr. A. C. Jantko will referee.
