SOUTH WAIRARAPA SHOW. MINORCA CHAMPIONSHIP. (From Our SDecial Correspondent.) Carterton, July 24. The seventh annual show under tho auspices of the South Wairarapa Poultry, Pigeon, and Case Bird Association opened in the Agricultural Hall, Carterton yesterday, and continued to-day. There was a large entry of pigeons, poultry not being so numerous a-s one would expect. The name classes were tlie best of tlie show, and all entries were representative cf quality, the specimens in tho judge's opinion being equal to any seen out this season, the various sections being as well lillcd as at I'almerslon North. The North Island Championship in Minorcas did not attract a large entry, the Clive Minorca breeder, Mr. G. Thornton, penned a nice team, but was unfortunate in not being able to win the championship, this going to a pullet belonging to Air. \V. T. Hicks, of Otane, llawlte's Bay. Mr .Thornton was runnerup with a lien, both being good specimens, with very little between them. The White Kocks were easily the best seen in Carterton, the winning white pullet, the property of Mr. H. Preston, of Clareville, would have been hard to beat at any show this season.
There was a keen entry in pigeons, but with the exception of the homers, which wsro the bigjsst class, thers was nothing that called for special comment. The l'antails were, in the judge's,opinion, good enough to. show in Wellington. Mr. S. Johnson, of Palmerston North, judged the poultry, and Mr. E.-Bailey, of Wellington, the pigeons. In the game classes, Messrs. E. A. Williams, J. Sullivan, H. Pickering, J. Laurenson, J. May, P. C. Anderson, H. J. Meyrick were the principal prizetakers.
