CHEAP TRANSIT.
KING COUNTRY FARMERS' RETURNS. Mr. E. E. Burrow writes from Mangaotaki, near Te Kuiti, in the King Country: I.—Schools; not particularly. 2.—No. Returns from the sale of products are unsatisfactory on account of the bad road and Tailway servioes. 4.—Telephone and postal services fairly good for a new district. s.—Plenty of shows, but only a few are of much real benefit. G.—The Department of Agriculture is of much more benefit than agricultural shows. 7.—No organisation at all. B.—No renters in the district, only l.i.p. tenants, who are mostly doing pretty well, owing to the continuous rise in value of land, but few men are making 10 per cent, clear on the capital invested. 9—Labour is very scarce and high. 10,—Conditions of labour will improve as the district advances. U —Quick and cheap means of transit.
