RUGBY MATTERS. SUNDAY GAMES FOR ALL BLOCKS. NOT'TO BE PLAYED. Tho Management Committee of the New Zealand llugby Union met last evening, there beiug present .Messrs. N. Galbvaith (in the chnir), li. 31. Isaac;, 13. Wylie, J. H, Laugliton, F. G. Wallburton, ami A. Laurenson. Mr. J. t'\ t'eake, of Canterbury, was appointed referee fur the forthcoming inter-island match at Christchureh. A telegram is to be sent to the Auckland Union inquiring as to whether they have accepted or refused the Poverty Hay Union's challenge for the Jianfurly Shield. Mr. G. 11. Masuu (Christchurcli) notified that he would probably be able to obtain leave of absence to . enable him to act as manager of tho New Zealand team in America. The youth Auckland TJftton asked for the reinstatement of two players who had taken part in Northern Union games. It was decided to expel one of the players, and to ask for further particulars iii. the other ease. The list of matches for the New Zealand team in America, as published in yesterday's Dominion ,was considered. It was decided to agree to the programme, with the exception, of the match fixed for Sunday, November 9. The Californiau Union is to be cabled that the New Zealand Union cannot agree to Sunday matches.

THE INTEK-ISLAND TEAM. SOME CHANGES MADE. ■ Some changes have been rendered necessary in the North Island team in the forthcoming inter-island match. Evenson (Wellington) will replace O'Leary (Auckland) at full-back. In the threequarter line. Loveridge (Taranaki) will take the place of M'Gregor (Auckland). Amongst the forwards, M'lCcnzio (Wellington) and Tresize (Auckland) will, replace Kamsden (Wellington) and Sellars (Auckland). The emergencies will bo Dewar (forward) and ICinvig (back).

ASSOCIATION.

BENEFIT MATCH ON BASIN. In the absence throiißli illness of Sir. J. B. Paton, chairman of tho Management Committee of the Wellington Football Association, Mr. B. L. Salmon protided at the meeting of the executive hist evening. It was announced that the board, which i.s to inquire into the appeal by the Corinthian Club, would sit on Tuesday, July 29. A deputation from the Brooklyn United Club waited oil the committee in. reference to tho question of transferring the Thistle-Brooklyn United match from Wakefield Park to the Basin lleserve on Saturday next. Tho reason was that it was considered that (seeing that a collection wos to be taken up on behalf of an injured player, connected with the Brooklyn United Club), the Basin Reserve would be the more suitable ground. Previous requests on this matter had been refused. The deputation stated that they expected a large crowd to be present, and as this was a particularly deserving case they asked tho committee to consider the transfer.

After discussion it was decided that the necessary permission be granted. Several matters in connection with the Brown Shield match, Wellington v. Canterbury, which is to be played on the Basin Reserve on August 2, were discussed. The secretary of tho Canterbury Association wrote stating that a junior team would accompany the representatives. It was decided that Canterbury juniors play a Wellington Fourth .Division team. The match will be played on the Basin Reserve as a curtain-raiser to the big event. ' > Messrs. Godber, Paton, and Yosman, the selectors, have chosen the following players to go into training in view of tho match which is to! be played against Canterburyßelhamie, Cross, Parsons, Brownlee, Roots, Shaw, Eickerby, Barnett, A. Lowe, O'Shea, Vessey, loadsinan, Gibson, Hughes, and Skinner. The Canterbury Association asked that a neutral referee be appointed for the match. It was decided that the New. Zealand Referees' Association be asked to appoint a referee from Auckland or Otago, and it was suggested that Mr. Dawson, of Auckland, be appointed to control the game. Mr. E. Windley was appointed linesman?, / Mr. W. E. AVells was appointed referee in the junior match Canterbury v. Wellington, and Mr. S. Wiffen linesman. Permission was granted for a Sixth Division representative trial game to bo played on Kilbirnic Reserve on August 2. Mr. C. K. Dick wrote resigning his seat on the Management Committee. The resignation was accepted with regret. Tho question of filling the vacancy was held over till next meeting.

SCHOOLS' MATCHES. On account of last Saturday's matches being postponed the following schools' match list has been drawn for next Saturday Thorndon A v. Marist A, at Duppa Street, at 10 a.m.; Mr. 11. Liversage. Te Aro v. South Wellington, at Duppa Street, at 10 a.m.; Mr. E. Evans. Island Bay v. Clyde Quay, at Dunpo. Street, at 11 a.m.; Broi Donatus. :Kilbirnio v. Marist B, at Kilbirnie, at 10.30 a.m.; Mr. G. Wilbv. Northland v. Thorndon B, at Anderson Park, at 10 a.m.; Mr. S. WifYen. Wadestown v. Ivarori. at Anderson Park, at 11 a.m.; Mr. S. Wiffen.

The Central Harriers held their weekly run from Lyall Bay yesterday afternoon. In view of the coining championship, a run through was proposed. D. W. Rutledge. as pacemaker, led the pack along the tramline sonic distance, and* then turned and made far Miramar. The pace was very solid as far as the Worser Bay hill. It slackened a little going over the hill into Worser Bay. The road was followed to and through tho Seatoim tunnel, then along the tramline to tho golf links, and across the golf links to tho starting point.
