FARMERS' MEAT COMPANY.

YEAR'S OPERATIONS. The annual report of the Wellington Farmers' Meat Company shows that the quantity of 6tock treated during the year ended June 30, 1913, was largely in cxcess of that treated in tho previous year. The return wasas follows, rast year's output being given in parentheses:—Sheep, 139,925 (110,671); lambs, 116,250 (79,137); oattle, .2270 (1201). The net result of the year's operations, . after providing ,£4500 for depreciation of plnnt, is a profit of •E7771 Bs. Bd., of which it is proposed to transfer ,£looo to reservo and to pay a dividend of G per ccnt. on paid-up capital. During the year the scheme for the extension of the freezing and storage chambers outlined at the last annual meeting was put into operation and partly completed. The additions will be duplicated this year, .thereby duplicating the original freezing block. The retiring directors, Messrs. lowes and Morrison, have been returned unopposed.

With a view to still further inducing farmers to 50 in for tho best milking strains, the Egmout A. and P. Association have decided to hold a dairy herd competition, to bo open to all farmers with herds of 25 cows or over. The competition is to commence m August, lJld, and finish on May SO, 1914.
