THE RESULTS AT MASTERTON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Masterton, July 22. , The Masterton Competitions were continued to-day. The feature of the season was the splendid performance of Mis 9 Lulu Arnold, of Wellington, who won three events. Results:— Reading at Sight.—Dorothy Vile (Masterton), 1; Hazel Jeffrey (Wellington), 2. Humorous Recitation (boys under 15).— Stephen Bishop (Clareville), 1; Reuben M'Master (Masterton), 2. Vocal Solo' (boys under 16).—Hcctor Bishop (Clareville), 1; Jack Rees (Greytown), 2. Piano Solo (girls under 16).—Rdta 6. Hampton (Masterton), 1; Nella Pragndl (Masterton). 2. T.-:ulies' Recitation.—Miss Lulu Arnold (Wellington), 1; Miss Chrissio Graham (Masterton), 2. Musical Monologue.—Miss Lulu Arnold, 1; Miss .Janet Petrie (Wellington), 2. • Recitation (girls under 16). —Hazel Jeffrey (Wellington), 1; Inez Mitchell (Palmersion North), 2. Baritone Solo.—S. During the quarter ending March 31 last, 15,997 horses were exported from Great Britain, 12,000 being, declared to be miller ,£2O in value, and 2000 of the remainder under .£SO in value. Statistics issued by tho coal department of the North Germnu Lloyd fleet show that it costs one shilling per second to coal a fleet of 171 steamers. The stokers shovel 3} tons of coitl per minute into the furnaces. 1
