MR. CHURCHILL'S PROGRAMME

Tho "Times," in a leading articlo on Mr. Churchill's statement, with regard to the construction of oil-fuel navy ships, says that tho Admiralty has shown commendable foresight and activity during tho last two years. Tho nation may rest content that the necessities creatcd by tho use of oil in ships are being adequately met. A NEWSPAPER y PROTEST. (Rec. July 20, 5.5 p.m.) London, July 19. The "Daily Citizen," commenting on Mr. Churchill's statement regarding oil fuel ships and tho supply of oil for tho navy, protests against any action being taken which might injuriously affect tho interests of the coal miners. The "grisly spectro of a naval defeat," says tho "Citizen," must not be used against tho interests of tho miners and their four million wives and children. Perhaps oil can be obtained from coal, but in no circumstances will the devastation of these millions be permitted." ACCELERATED DELIVERY. (Sydnoy "Sun" Special—July 20, 6.30 p.m.) London, July 20. Speaking in tho House of Commons Mr. Churohill (First Lord of tho Admiralty) announced that tho Admiralty would bo receiving from tho yards ono torpedo boat, or destroyer, once a week for the next nino months, a light cruiser every thirty days for the next year, and superDreadnought ovcry forty-fivo days for tho next eighteen months.
