MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

(Before Mr. W. G. KiddolL, S.M.) At the Magistrate's Court yesterday Edyard Patrick Madegan was charged with issault—he was Teinanded for a week. _ A. Hansen was fined 10s„ plus 7s. costs, 'or playing dice on. the Queen's Wharf. Margaret Webb and Elisabeth Musgrove ivere each sentenced to one month's imprisonment for importuning. Kobort Griggs, desortion from the s.s. (Vestmeath at Lyttelton, was fined .£5 in default 14 days); on a charge of insobriety ho was fined 10s. Otto Ben, Amelia Hare, and Eddie May were eacli fined ss. and costs for allowing horses and cows to bo at largo ivithin the city bounds. Three similar ih-angos from Pahautanui were dismissed jn the non-appearance of'the informant. For failure to render personal service under the Defence Act tho following were fined:—Richard 11. Banasick, 20s. and 7s. costs; John A. Hagom, 40s. and 7s. costs; Geo. G. Pirnin, 20s. and 7s. costs; Thomas Scott, 20s. and 7s. costs; nnd Victor Wegjerr, '10s. and 7s. costs. Field, Robert P. George, George Goocli, Hugh Gregg, Charlo.s Hargreave?, .Tack ■iopson, Frank Sandbrook, and William Walling. 'Informations for being unregistered persons selling Jeyes ffuid, carbolic acid, and izal were laid against Wardell Bros., Hill Bros., O. W. Bonnington, and David Anderson and Son. Those informations were withdrawn by leave of the Court.
