COURT OF APPEAL.

THE FORD MARRIAGE CASE. Decision was given in tho case arising out of tho trial of Harry Ford, who had been acquitted onia charge of bifjauiy at tho criminal sessions of tho Supremo Court in Auckland on May 12 last. It was then alleged that, on or about August 15, 1912, Harry l'ord (being then lawfully married to ' Beatrice Newton) went through the form of marriage with ono Kathleen Kelly. The first marriage was. alleged to have taken place in New South and the question for the Court was whether the Crown had proved tho validity of that marriage. The 'Appeal Court held that a mere admission of a former marriage is not, on a chnrgo of bigamy, sufficient evidence of a valid marriage, out that, when a valid marriago is proved, an explicit admission by the peisons charged that i ho was a party to that marriage is sufficient. Tlio verdict of tho Supreme Court was set aside, and a new trial ordered.
