Competition was brisk throughout, and wo 6old every lot at satisfactory prices. Ewes in lamb, on account of Mr. W. H. Watson, were a particularly fino lot, four-tooths making £1 Is. 3d.; two-tooths, £1 06. 9d.; six-tooths, £1 Is.; fresh fulPmouth?. 19s. 6d.; two-tooth ewes, 15s. 9d.; mixed-age ewes, 16s. 6d. to 17s. Sd.; f.ra. ewes, in lamb. 14s. 2d.; fat ewes, 175.; mixed hoggets, lis. 6d„ lis. 10d. to 133. 3d.; email hoggets, to 9s. 3d.; wcaner steers, small, 275. 6d.; Jersey Shorthorn wcaner heifers, £2 14s. 6d.;. aged dairy cows, £3 155.; dairy cows, £5 7s. 6d., £6, £6 7s. fid., to £9 10s.; Shorthorn springing heifers, £5 17s. 6d. and £6; Jersey-cross springing heifers, £6 to £7; Jersey heifers, springing, £7 to £8 15s. The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.. Ltd.. Palmerstoni North, report On Wednesday we held a sale of dairy stock on account of Mr. J. A. Mitchell. at his farm at Longburn,-and have to report a most successful Bale at tho following prices:—Good quality cows, early calvers, £10 to £12; good cowb, £8 to £9 155.: three-quarter, and backward cows, £5 to £7 155.; tho herd averaging £8 Is. 6d.; Holstein springing heifers. £9 to £10 55.; forward heifers, in. calf, £6 10s. to £7 155.; backward heifers, £5 10s. to £6 55., averaging £7 16s. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report as follows:—Woodville stock sale—Wo offered a good yarding of both sheep and cattle to a. large attendance. Sheep sold well, and cattle at late rates. Quotations: Fat wethers, 21s. ,3d.; fat ewes, 15s. 7d.; ewes in lamb, lis. 4d. to 17s. 6d.; empty ewes, 10s. 3d.; springing heifers, £5 17s. 6d. to £6 55.; empty cows, £1 15s. to £3 6s. Pahiatua. stock sale—We offered a good yarding of both sheep and cattle. Sheep 6old exceptionally well, experiencing a sharp rise, everything selling under the hannmer. Cattle sold at late rates. Quotations: Mixed aged owes in lamb, 175., 18s. to 20s. 3d.; sound-month ewes in lamb, 12s. 6d. to 155.; fat wethers, 235. to 235. 6<L; forward wethers, 16e. lOd. to 18s. 3d.; good lambs, 13$. 2d. to 14s. 9d.; others, 9s. lid., lis. to 125.; ewe lambs, 14s. 5d.; good dairy cows, £6 15s. to £7 126. 6d.; others, £4 10s. to £5 55.; springing heifers, £5 55., £6 7s. 6d., to £7 10s.; fat heifers, £5 75.; weaners, £1 • 10s. to £1 17s. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report having held a successful clearing sale of dairy stock on account of Mt. Robert Bovan at his farm, Manakau, on Tuesday last. For the Jersey strain of dairy cows there existed a. very keen demand. cows selling at £11 55., £13, £15 10s., and as high as £16 ss. Bidding was not so spirited for the Ayrshire-Shorthorn cross cows, but the overall average was £9, which was considered very satisfactory. Tn addition the firm quote:—Springing heifers, £6 to £8 2e.; wcaner Jersey heifers, £3 Is. Bd.: empty heifers, £4 35.; sows in pig, £7; slips, £1 Is. to £1 9b.
