ARCHITECTS BILL.
POINTS OF THE MEASURE. The New Zealand. Institute of Architects Bill, which has been, introduced into tho House of Representatives this session by the Hon. A. L. Herdman, was circulated- yesterday. The short title of the Bill is ."An Act to Make Provision for tho Registration of Architects," and it, in fact, covers very little ground beyond this. It provides that the lnstitpte of Architects shall supervise the training, education, and examination of persons seeking to enter the profession of architecture, and tho granting or issuing of diplomas, certificates, or degrees in recognition of their proficiency in architecture or in any matters relating lo tho duties of an architect. It also provides for the establishment of an Architects' Registration Board, consisting of six persons, three of whom' shall bo appointed by the Govornor-in-Council, anil thrco by tho governing body of tho institute. An applicant who claims that ho has been wrongfully refused registration may appeal from tho.decision of tho board to tho Supreme Court. Tho institute may arrange with tho University of New Zealand to conduct examinations for architects, or may recognise any examination prescribed by the university for the degree of B.Sc. in Architecture. Penalties of «£SO are provided for the punishment of persons not members of tho institute who describe' themselves in such a way as mav bo likely to cause people to supposo that they are members, or who procure, or seek to procure, registration T,y a false declaration.
