(From Our Hnselal GoTrescond<rat.l 4 The Petone W.C.T.U. held n. pleasant afternoon on Wednesday at Mrs. Corner's, where items were rendered b.v Mesdames Ridge and Syraons, and Miss Reach. Mrs. Battersby won the calculatinff competition. Mr. Babington, proprietor of the Hntt Pictures, handed over .£2O as the result of the benefit performance for the Hutt District High School. At a meeting of the Petone District TTigh School last evening a motion, placing on record its sense of loss and deep regret at the death of Mr. James Ilnrne formerly headmaster at Potono Main School was carried unanimously. An interesting function will take placo at the Petone Municipal Buildings tomorrow afternoon when the new electric impulse clock and chimes, recently purchased by the borough, will be set in operation by the Mayor.
