SHEEP RETURNS.

DECREASE FOR THE DOMINION. The. return 3 of the number of sheep in the Dominion on April 30 last show that the total on that date was 23,601,151, as against 23,750,15.3 in. 1912,..a. decrease, of 89,002. The number in the' North Island shows aii increase of 219,766, of which the Wellington. The Sputh Island chows a docrease of 308,768, Otago being accountable for a decrease of 165,338, Canterburv-Kai-koura for 123,053, and Marlborough-Ncl-son-Wcstland for 20,377. The totals for the various districts this year aro as follow—Auckland, 1,265,976; Napier-Gis-borne, 5,620,120; Wellington West Coast, 5,951,759; Marlborough-Nelson-Westland, 1,287,250; Canterbury-Kaikouro, 5,015,439; Otago, i,490,001.
