DOCTOR AND NURSES STRICKEN DOWN. ' LATEST FROM SYDNEY. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright (Roc. July 15, 8.50 p.m.) {Sydney, July 15. A disquieting smallpox development oo curred to-day. It was announced that there arc eight cases in the Prince Alfred Hospital. Ail old man, who was admitted ■on Juno 23 suffering from pneumonia., died on Juno 28, and prior to his death, a rush ap. peared. Every precaution wis adopted, but notwithstanding this two patients, three nurses, two wardsmen, and a resident doctor developed smallpox, fortunately in tho usual mild form. Stringent isolation has been enforced, and the hospital absolutely closed to visitors, excepting'in the most urgent cares. ' Besides thoso in tho hospital thirteen other eases from various suburbs were ro,ported. to-day. /"The Victorian authorities are agam rig. orously insisting that passengers on traini from New South AVales must produce vaccination certificates. Mauy travellers have been stranded at Albury. Dr. Makgill, District IlonUh Officer at Auckland, vaccinated the Moeralci's passengers' on Sunday. • Tho doctor commences his inquiries immediately. He has. declined to say anything regarding hif mission to Australia. SYDNEY EPIDEMIC. STILL MORE CASES. Sydney, July 15, Tho health authorities discovered Into last night a family of five were all suffering from smallpox, making a total of ten cases reported yesterday. ;The New Zealand Universities football team has been compelled to spend another week in Sydney on account of tho smallpox epidemic. It will play Sydney University on Wednesday next, and dopart for New Zealand on Saturday. ENGLISH PRECAUTIONS. . London, July 11..
