A Wdkanao district farmer replies as under:— I.— So far' as teaching goes, system good, inasmuch as a child is taught, say, the values of different manures, etc. 2.—A livo man will watch tlio markets and got a fair return for stock and products, except better, for which wo need to co-operate. 3.—Roads good; railways badly managed, and transit nf goods too slow, causing ■needless trips several miles to station, after being'advised goods were trucked. I.—No. Post offico should not hp.closed from Saturday at 1 p.m. to 9 a.m. on
Monday. Better salaries should bo paid for those in charge. s.—Certainly, both ftom what one sees and hears, it is evident that farmers are being benefited by the diowo. G.—Country too new; should give names most suitable grasses to bo sown on different lands. 7.—Farmers are too dilatorv; and, will not organise for their own benefit, ojid won't even support the Farmers' union. B.—l think the renters of farms hero are doing well; if not, they ought to be. 9.—Labour supply is insufficient. Outside labour is a luxury; here to-day and gone to-morrow. The only reliable man is the small farmer. 10.—Yes. Wages good and hired man usually lives with family. 11—One thing absolutely necessary 13 that country telephones should bo made cheaper aud Government should give settlers a small share of conveniences employed by town-people. _ At this placo a letter will reach its destination as soon as a telegram. Some library ystom is needed whereby peoplo in ths country mi"ht have a supply of the liltl books. Government might follow American method of sending its lecturers to small country places to speak on things of interest to the farming community.
